Key Roles and Responsibilities
Maintain and update accounting records and files
Analyze budgets and create expense reports
Meet with clients to discuss confidential accounting issues
Post transactions and categorize records in the general ledger (e.g. by assets, liabilities and expenses)
Reconcile bank accounts, credit card accounts, loan accounts, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
Analyze transactions with internal and external stakeholders
Conduct month-end and year-end closures
Apply new accounting policies and ensure compliance with rules and regulations
Report to the Accounting Manager and work to improve financial processes
Manage all accounting transactions
Handle monthly, quarterly, and annual closings
Create and analyze liability, asset, and capital accounts by compiling electronic data and required documentation
Summarize and prepare financial status and transactions reports, including a profit and loss statement, and other necessary reports
Post and maintain general ledger accounts, payroll transactions, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger adjustments
Record and review bookkeeping data entry; perform problem-solving, research activities
Assist clients and other staff with documents, questions, and issues
Qualifications for Staff Accountant
Must have a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
Four (5) years or more of previous general ledger accounting and financial reporting experience is required, preferably in the e-commerce and professional services industries.
Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports
Advanced proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, particularly with Excel (Pivot Table, V-Lookup, X-Lookup, Charts, Functions & Formulas)
Required knowledge of cloud accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Online, Xero, or other ERP systems), Tallie, and other applications related to finance and accounting
Thorough understanding of financial application security, ensuring that all financial data is secure and complies with confidentiality policies
Must be very detail-oriented, possess excellent follow-through, and can multitask
Must be self-motivated, proactive, detail-oriented, and a team player
Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
Excellent time management skills
Must be an outstanding communicator and have established skills in accuracy, organization, and working in a high-volume environment
Demonstrated ability to support all other departments within the company and coordinate training and information sessions
Excellent proficiency in English communication—read, write, and speak fluently in English
